HERE’S THE AUDIO FOR YOU!

Are you a "faith walker?" Do you allow what you see to direct your thoughts and feelings regarding your situation? Or, do you command your sight to come under the authority of your faith in God to take you through your situation? God tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that we are to walk by faith and not by sight.

For many of us, walking by faith and not by sight is easier said than done. I don't know about you, but it hasn't always been easy to be a consistent "faith walker." My sight will sometimes get ahead of my faith and establish its own cadence, leading me down the path of worry, despair, and discouragement. I have learned that in order for me to view my situation from God's perspective and walk by faith, I have to be disciplined in these three areas- Prayer, Reading God's Word and Obeying God.

In this month's Speaking Encouraging Words-S.E.W. blog, I'm sharing my insights on how these three disciplines will ignite your faith and give you the spiritual endurance to be a committed "faith walker".

  • Prayer- Praying is essential to our faith walk. Prayer is where we receive instructions, revelations, and insights from God to continue walking in faith regardless of what's going on around us and in us. When our faith is challenged, and it will be, our immediate response should be to stop and pray. Prayer is the place where we receive confirmation of His promises for our life and His joy and peace to sustain us in the waiting season. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing. This does not mean that we should do nothing but pray, but we should do nothing without praying. Don't compromise your "faith walk" by neglecting prayer. God wants you to pray so He can give you what you need to energize your "faith walk."

  • Reading God's Word2 Timothy 2:15 saysstudy to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (KJV). How can you have faith in God's ability to move on your behalf if you don't know His word? Not only do you have to know the word, but you have to know who you are by the word. Your identity is in Christ, so when you walk by faith and not by sight, you are doing it as a son and daughter of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. You have the authority to use God's word to silence the enemy when He comes to interrupt your "faith walk" with his lies and deceit. The word of God is our shield and keeps us from losing ground in our faith walk. God wants you to study His Word so you can know who you are and declare it against anything that comes to hinder or stop your "faith walk."

  • Obeying God- James 1:22 says be doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving yourself. To have faith in God is to act on what we hear and what He is asking us to doHow can you disobey the only true living God and think it won't impact your life? When you obey God, you tell Him that you agree with His plans for your life. His plans for your life are better than any plan you can ever dream or think of. We deceive ourselves when we believe that we can walk by faith and not by sight without Him leading us along the way. Obedience to God is Satan's kryptonite. 2 Corinthians 10:6 says ….and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. When you are obedient to God's word, disobedience is punished. Obedience to God prevents Satan from manifesting his plots and schemes that interrupt your "faith walk." Obey God. Whatever He asks you to do, do it because He is the author and finisher of your "faith walk" (Hebrews 12:2.) God wants you to be obedient to His word so that your "faith walk" is fueled by His leading.

I pray this blog encourages you to be consistent in PrayerReading God's Word, and Obeying God's Voice so that you can see the manifestations of your faith. Remember, you are a "Faith Walker”, so trust in the Lord and walk by faith and not by sight!
